Who We Are

Neighbors Helping Neighbors

Here at Bethel Area Food Shelf (The Shelf), we know that sometimes all it takes to change the world is a little support. The Shelf is a volunteer-run organization supported by a consortium of Bethel area churches and public donations. We work to help alleviate food insecurity for our neighbors in Bethel, Barnard, Stockbridge, and Pittsfield.

We offer onsite shopping and home delivery.

Thursdays   5:00 - 7:00 pm

Last two Saturdays  10:00 - 11:30 am

Stop in to shop during open hours, or

Shopping, Ordering and Pick Up & Delivery

Location  The Shelf is located in the back of the White Church at 129 Church St. (next to the Bethel Band Shell).

Shopping  Come in to shop during open hours: Mondays 12:00 - 1:00pm, Thursdays 5:00 - 7:00 pm, and the last two Saturdays of each month 10:00 - 11:30 am.

Pick Up & Home Delivery  If you cannot shop in person or during our open hours, our volunteers will pack your order for pick up at BAFS, Pittsfield General Store (Mondays only), or home delivery. To place an order for pick up or delivery, please fill out an order form or call (802) 234-5513. If we aren't able to answer the phone when you call, please leave us a voicemail and a volunteer will call you back to take your order. Be sure to leave your name, phone number, and the best time to reach you.

A representative shopping list is available here or you can pick one up at The Shelf. Use it as a guide when you call in your order.

New Clients  If you are a new client, please check in with our volunteers when you come in to shop for the first time, or leave your name, phone number, physical address, and the number of people in your household when placing an order. We look forward to welcoming you!
