At BAFS we look out for one another, and if you—or someone you care about—needs extra support, you’re not facing it alone. Our community is full of neighbors and local organizations who offer support with respect, understanding, and no judgment.

To make it easier to find the help you need, we’ve gathered trusted contacts for housing, transportation, healthcare and mental health, childcare, and financial assistance. We’re here to walk with you and help make things a little easier to navigate.

Vermont 211 is a free, confidential service of the United Ways of Vermont, making it easy to connect with a wide range of local & regional community, health and human resources services. Just call 211 day or night to talk with someone who'll guide you to the right support. Or search their online database for local programs that can lend a hand.

Here are some local resources we often recommend to help you get started:

Capstone Community Action

Capstone offers support for food/nutrition, heating/utilities, housing, family services, transportation, financial and job training, etc. They will help you find the programs and services you need. Don’t know where to start? Call 1(800)639-1053 from Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 4:30pm, or fill out their online form.

Pittsfield residents are outside of Capstone's service area, but you can call BROC serving Rutland County at 1(800)717-2762.

Mental Health Emergency - Call or Text 988 Lifeline

The system is designed to provide resources for individuals experiencing mental health challenges, and will connect you to your local Mobile Crisis Emergency team if you need someone to come help in person.

Emergency Housing

If you or someone you know needs Emergency Housing, please call the VT Economic Services Division (ESD) Emergency Housing Line at 1(800)775-0506. They can help you apply for temporary housing.
